In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit...
and so began our love of adventures.
From university halls to the Northern Lights, our story is written in passport stamps,
shared plates, and the comfortable silence of two nerds who found each other.
Planes, trains, and automobiles...so starts our very first adventure together and the beginning of many to come. We'd only been dating for 3 months when Vi Vien asked Jake to join her back home in Malaysia for her sister's wedding. Six flights, 5 cities, lost bags and delayed flights...twice! We kicked things off with an unexpected layover in San Francisco (fog, sourdough, Bob's Donuts, the usual), flew for a million hours to Singapore, then landed in Malaysia for the wedding. Jacob survived meeting approximately 200 relatives while running on nothing but caffeine and chaos.
The trip where we officially became "theme park people." Ugh. We ate our weight in BBQ in Tennessee while visiting her friends, then spent a week in Florida acting like we were 12 years old. Jacob got emotional on the Harry Potter ride. Vi Vien got emotional when she found the perfect Mickey ears. No regrets.
We drove four hours to watch the sky go dark for three minutes and honestly? Worth it. Standing in a field full of strangers, watching the sun disappear, we felt very small in the best possible way. Then we enjoyed some Ben & Jerry's which just might have been the best part.
11 cities, three weeks, approximately 147 pasta dishes. We got lost in Venice (on purpose), fell in love with Florence (the gelato helped), explored the oldest republic in the world in San Marino, argued with pigeons in Rome, climbed the Acropolis in Athens, and watched sunsets in Santorini like the basic ass tourists we proudly are.
We went to the Arctic Circle. In March. On purpose. Amazing. Stockholm had gorgeous old town vibes, Helsinki had the world's coolest library, complete with sauna and polar plunge. Rovaniemi had us standing in -20°C waiting for the sky to do something cool. It did. Green and red ribbons overhead, frozen toes below, hot chocolates in hand. Perfection.
Finland, France, Scotland, Ireland, England
Jacob whisked Vi Vien away on a grand tour of Europe to trace his ancestral roots. They traveled through rolling hills in Scotland and Ireland and bustling streets in France and England, celebrating their mutual love of history, travel, and food. Five countries, countless castles, one nervous Jacob smuggling a ring through security.
Jacob planned the evening to a tee, a perfect day beginning to fade and a sunset overlooking Hyde Park. Somewhere between ancient libraries and cobblestone avenues, surrounded by the stories we've always loved, Jacob popped the question.

First off, the "theme" is totally optional, but we think it will be fun. Absolutely no pressure, though. Come as you are all the same. But, should you wish to partake, think Old Hollywood glamour meets literary salon. Jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, ruby, plum) are encouraged. This is a chance to dress up, so think cocktail to formal. Comfort matters, too! We're proud of our dinner selections so be prepared to eat.
Our chef can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergy, and preference requirements. Please let us know your specific dietary needs in the RSVP form below.
This reception is our main celebration in Boston. We're keeping things intimate and meaningful. Stay tuned for details about any additional gatherings!
We'll really miss you! Please RSVP either way so we have an accurate headcount. We'd love to celebrate with you another time!
